Area Attractions

We would like you to enjoy what the Town of Lander and the surrounding area have to offer such as hiking, fishing, golf, photography, rock climbing or bicycling. There are a variety of restaurants, art galleries, bookstores, a children’s museum and unique shopping in downtown Lander with entertainment offered throughout the summer. The golf course offers 18 holes and a clubhouse open to everyone. The Wind River Reservation is home of the Shoshone and Arapahoe Indian Tribes. Fort Washakie, fourteen miles north of Lander, is the grave site of Sacajawea and Chief Washakie, the last Chief of the Shoshone Tribe. Pow Wow’s, (Indian dancing), are scheduled throughout the summer and open to everyone. Thirty-five miles south of Lander are the historical gold mining towns of the 1800’s, South Pass City and Atlantic City.
